Central has already been operated and will be discharged at the end of this Thursday.

This Thursday, FC Porto updated the clinical condition of Pepe, injured in the match with Paços de Ferreira, for the League Cup.

“He has already been operated on by the doctor Carlos Monteiro at the Casa de Saúde da Boavista, having reduced the fracture in his face contracted in yesterday’s game (Wednesday). The Portuguese-Brazilian will be discharged from the hospital today,” it appears in the official website.

Pepe’s return to the competition, straight to the starting eleven, was both surprising and regrettable. After a collision with Toni Martínez, in the 75th minute, the captain suffered a fracture in the zygomatic arch, a bone under the eye, and was immediately taken to hospital. Based on previous cases of this injury, it is unlikely that Pepe can contribute to the team in the Super Cup, against Benfica, scheduled for the 23rd.

The Portuguese international had not played since receiving Olympiacos (October 27) and had just recovered from a plantar fascia injury in his left foot.

In addition to Pepe, three other players are included in the FC Porto medical history: Marcano (conditioned training), Mbaye (gym) and Zaidu (conditioned training).
