According to the statement sent to Pplware, this initiative is part of a set of measures that ANACOM has been developing in the context of the implementation of 5G in Portugal, which includes the auction for the allocation of relevant bands for 5G and the webinars recently carried out with municipalities on this issue.
The objective of the 5G Portal is that everyone, citizens, companies, academia, municipalities, among others, can have access to information and knowledge about the characteristics and potential of this new generation of mobile networks, as well as the evolution of the adoption of this technology in Portugal.
Fifth generation technology thus brings a completely new reality: it will be able to support a thousand times more traffic than current networks and at a speed 10 to 20 times faster than 4G.
It will also have very short response times, allowing for new levels of development in the industry and the possibility of remote medical monitoring. New applications in public health and safety, new advances in virtual reality and the use of autonomous vehicles stand out. Precision agriculture, smart cities, the Internet of things are other areas among many other potentials that have not yet been discovered or developed.
Therefore, it is on facts and data that the 5G Portal will focus, as solutions, offerings and applications emerge in the areas of science, technology and market.
