This year’s Stromp award (58th edition) in the footballer category goes to team captain Sebastián Coates, a 30-year-old Uruguayan center who joined Sporting in January 2016 from Southampton, England. Nuno Mendes, an 18-year-old left back in the formation and now a starter in team A, won in the Revelation category.

Each of the two defenders was assigned one of the 14 Stromps by jury choice.
