The new president of Santos, André Rueda, was interviewed, at the beginning of Portugal, by Rádio Omega. The São Paulo leader guaranteed that he understands Lucas Veríssimo’s discontent for not having left yet, but reinforces that the center coveted by Benfica has to respect the position and rights of the club. Rueda goes further and describes the proposals presented by the incarnate as “an insult to Santos.”
“From what we saw, these proposals presented by Benfica and which were denied by our Supervisory Board were, in my opinion, an insult to Santos”, Rueda shot, before clarifying: “I don’t understand how you can make an offer for a player and wanting to collect in five or six years … That is wanting to take advantage of a situation that unfortunately the club itself exposed to the world. We had a saucer in hand. We are not going to do that, wash dirty clothes at home. The financial situation is internal, it belongs to the partners ”.
The new president of Santos also confirmed that until January 1, the date of the inauguration, he will not interfere in any business, although he has already indicated that he will not facilitate in the case of Lucas Veríssimo.
Meanwhile, Benfica has already reacted. Contacted by A BOLA, the club’s official source, he recalls that Benfica “presented its proposal correctly, in the right places and with respect for normal relations between clubs” and emphasizes that it is “a bad sign that a recently arrived president is going to play public discuss and negotiate ”, which can be seen as“ lack of respect for the image and credibility of the club itself and, more seriously, of the player himself ”.
