The Famalicão Museum Network was distinguished by the Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM), with two awards and an honorable mention, within the framework of the 25th edition of the APOM Awards Ceremony, which took place last week, in online format , announced today the autarky.

The Cupertino de Miranda Foundation was awarded two prizes in the categories of Incorporation Prize with the set of 47 works by Isabel Meyrelles and in the category of Catalog Prize with the publication of the catalog “Cruzeiro Seixas – Along the long road”.

The “Famalicão Industrial Tourism” Roadmap, which groups three museum units of the Famalicão Museum Network – Museo de la Industria Textil de la Cuenca del Ave; Automobile Museum and National Railway Museum – Núcleo de Lousado – received an Honorable Mention in the category of Tourist Information.

This year’s edition had 208 applications, in which institutions from continental Portugal and the Autonomous Communities participated. It also assumed a markedly international dimension, recognizing the excellence of the projects for the cultural exhibition and dissemination of Portugal abroad.

The Museum of the Year Award, APOM’s highest award, was given to the Museum of Photography of Madeira – Atelier Vicente’s Madeira.

The Portuguese Association of Museology was founded in 1965 with the aim of serving the professional community of Portuguese museums. It was the first professional organization linked to Museums that was founded in Portugal. Today it has about two hundred individual members and a dozen institutional members.
