Jesualdo Ferreira was announced this Monday as Boavista coach. The coach thus returns to the club, after leaving at the beginning of the season for rival FC Porto in 2006/07.
At the presentation, the chess leader recalled that moment.
“The fans do not forget my departure from Boavista as I did not forget,” he told the club’s channels.
«I came with a two-year contract, I worked seven weeks at the club, things were settled between FC Porto and Boavista and I left. What touched me during my stay here, the people, the stadium, the way they treated me, always left a trace of gratitude. For this reason, there was a part of me, which is inside, that said I had to come and accept it ”, added Jesualdo Ferreira.
The 74-year-old coach returns to Portuguese soccer after an adventure in Santos, Brazil. It’s a comeback after coaching Sp. Braga in 2013/14.
“It was because of the way they invited me that they convinced me that it was worth going back to a club where I was and with the perspective of a project that I found and I find it interesting,” justifies Jesualdo Ferreira.
The coach continued arguing: «I think it has a decisive importance for Boavista, and for his history. The way the questions were posed to me, at a time that is not easy, was even more motivating. It is another form of passion for a year and a half of the contract, but above all for the proposal that is made. And that is helping Boavista to return to a different future than in recent years.
In addition, the coach considered that “expectations were great because the model used by the club forced it” and, therefore, believes that “in view of the current moment, it is not possible to believe” in a bright future. “But I believe and the entire structure believes that we can move towards better performing platforms,” he said.
Jesualdo Ferreira concluded: «The challenge has been launched for the Boavista players, for the members themselves and we all miss not being here. The challenge for my technical team is launched, which is to regain the confidence with which the season started ».
