Portugália, which together with TAP SA is part of the restructuring plan presented to Brussels, will not have layoffs, but a staff reinforcement is expected in the coming years.

In an interview with Negócios e Antena 1, the Minister of Infrastructures admits that they can be hired for Portugália, which today has about 700 workers, TAP pilots, not through a direct pass but if possible, by law, privileging the new hiring that has experience in TAP.

According to the plan delivered this Thursday by the Government to Brussels, Portugalia will double the fleet, with 26 Embraer aircraft, “which will allow us to make a more competitive price, below the flagship companies, although above” low cost. says Pedro Nuno Santos, who, as he pointed out, between one and the other “there is a market segment that is not sufficiently explored.”

“Portugália, by achieving a more competitive price, will increase the possibility of having viable routes from Porto or Faro that today are not made by TAP. It is one of the strategies to have financially viable operations from other Portuguese airports and explore a little point by point, “he said.

With the green light from Brussels, the new management team will already implement TAP’s restructuring plan. Minister Pedro Nuno Santos already has a favorite, but prefers not to give names.

The minister hopes that the approval of the European Commission will take place in February.
