A 48-year-old Ukrainian citizen filed a criminal complaint against several PSP agents in Vila do Conde for assault, persecution and racism. The Ministry of the Interior has opened an administrative process to supervise the investigation of the PSP.
His lawyer Alexandra Cruz told JN that Valery Polosenko was targeted inside the police station, with two broken teeth and abrasions on his mouth, chest, and arms. The injuries were confirmed by a survey of the immigrant at the Institute of Legal Medicine.
The lawyer says that the complaint refers to the two agents who arrested him, in the early hours of December 6, for driving with an illegal alcohol tax and the others who were at the police station and whom he asked for help: “they took his wallet and his cell phone and prevented him from calling his usual lawyer. And the rest pretended that they did not listen to Valery’s pleas, “he says.
Alexandra Cruz says that the policemen will still have used xenophobic expressions, telling her, several times: “Go, go to your land!”
Contacted by JN, the Porto Metropolitan Command confirmed the arrest and says that, after being subjected to the alcohol test, where he charged a blood alcohol rate of 2.56 grams per liter, (which is a crime) the Ukrainian , who had a history of similar crimes, “tried to leave the police station and reacted aggressively against the police, when he was prevented from doing so.” For this reason, the agents proceeded to “restrain and handcuff them.”
The police add that “after being notified to appear before the court, the citizen freely left the police station, having dispensed with contact with family members and the defender, as well as medical observation.”
The following day, Valery Polosenko, who lives and works in Vila do Conde, went to a Porto police station to file a complaint, says Comando, for “excessive use of force.” Therefore, the respective report was prepared, which was sent to the judicial authority. The Porto Command also opened an internal investigation.
In this regard, the plaintiff’s lawyer says that it is, at least, “strange” that the agents who wrote the report while driving with alcohol, have not written anything about the alleged “aggressiveness” of the Ukrainian, only doing so, through a “Addendum” attached to the case file on the 8th, after his criminal complaint.
In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior reported that “it ordered the opening of an administrative follow-up process, by the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration (IGAI), to the investigation of the Public Security Police investigating the complaint of alleged attacks. against Ukrainian National in a police station “. The process allows IGAI “to follow the evolution of the PSP investigation and convene it, if it is considered justified.
