First, the Interior Ministry announced, in a statement, that there was a first “request for condolence transmitted in early April to Ilhor Homeniuk’s family, through the Ukrainian embassy in Lisbon”, that is, long before this new letter of condolences sent by Minister Eduardo Cabrita, in which he expresses his condolences and promises compensation to the family of the Ukrainian citizen murdered by SEF agents at the Lisbon airport. Now, the Ukrainian ambassador in Lisbon confirms the version but does not clarify whether, at that time, the condolences of the Portuguese Government reached the family. And he even leaves the interview not to answer.

In an exclusive interview with RTP, this Saturday, the Ukrainian ambassador in Lisbon, Inna Ohnivets -who this Friday met with Minister Eduardo Cabrita and who received a letter from him with condolences and the guarantee of payment of compensation-, stated: “We already had a meeting in April, he [Eduardo Cabrita] he conveyed his condolences ”.

But after the alleged sending of condolences by the minister at the embassy, doubts persist about what happened next. When asked if she had sent condolences to the Ukrainian citizen’s family, Inna Ohnivets replied: “Yes. Through the consul ”. Asked later if the consul “conveyed that the condolences came from the Government”, Inna Ohnivets only said:

He conveyed his condolences [à família] through our embassy. (…) What about the Portuguese Government? [disse]: you can communicate with the Portuguese Government ”, said the ambassador.

Unhappy with the questions asked, Inna Ohnivets decided to get up and end the interview in the middle after a new question, as to whether the Portuguese Government “conveyed its condolences to her in April for this family“. “I’m sorry, we finished our interview,” replied the journalist.

The consul in question, Volodymyr Kamarchuk, has since been replaced, says the RTP. Not only is he no longer in office, he is no longer in Portugal.

“This is for no one to see.” The 56 hours that led to the death of a Ukrainian at Lisbon airport
