The author, convicted in 1982 of the murder of his father-in-law, is charged with attempted murder.
The victim, Digo Costa, 21, has since been transferred to the Santiago do Outão Orthopedic Hospital, in Setúbal, where he will undergo a complex surgical procedure on his shoulder.
