SESARAM announced today that in compliance with the Contingency Plan, as of today and for a period of 10 days, visits to Hospital dos Marmeleiros and Hospital João de Almada are suspended, due to the need to screen the professionals and users of these two units. .

In addition to these, members of the reference family will also be tested for SARS-CoV-2.

During this suspension, contacts with the users’ families will be ensured by the medical and nursing teams.

The Elderly Line (969 320 822 – between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm) can also be used to obtain information, in the case of Hospital dos Marmeleiros.

As for the João de Almada Hospital, the hospital unit must be contacted through the number 291 780 300 (from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm).

As of December 14, the visiting regulations to the Nélio Mendonça Hospital come into force in the following terms: The daily visit of the reference family member is only allowed to patients hospitalized for a period exceeding 6 days, and visits are prohibited until day 6, included.

Exceptions to the previous point are: Intensive Care Unit, ICU, UCICT, Stroke Unit, Neutropenia Unit, Intermediate Care Units, Palliative Care Unit, NICU, Pediatrics, Obstetrics Service (Pregnant, Delivery Room, Postpartum) and end-of-life care patients.

In these Services or Units, the specific rules proposed by the Service Directors / Nurse will apply. Managers and validated by the Technical Directions.

3 – Patients in long-term hospitalization / discharge and even hospitalizations integrated into the NETWORK (São Vicente, Calheta, Santana, Santo António, Hospital João de Almada) will only have 1 (one) weekly visit from the reference family member, by appointment , in conjunction with the nursing team or team responsible for the unit.

4 – All relatives of reference, to visit acute patients, must perform the SARS-CoV-2 test on the 6th day of hospitalization of the user / before the first visit, repeating weekly for the duration of the hospitalization.

5 – Operationalization. A: The referring family member will be identified by the nursing team. B: The administrative support of the Service will proceed to program the family member’s test, following the methodology already in place for patients admitted for surgical procedures or exams, coming from abroad. C: After confirming the negative result of the SARS-CoV-2 test, the family member will be informed.
