The Survive Movement on Bread and Water is ready to go back on hunger strike if the Government does not approve its demands.

The hunger strike that began last week ended on the night of December 3, after seven days, when the movement met with the mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina.

“This meeting, which was attended by telephone by the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, allowed us to initiate a dialogue where our demands were presented and where they told us that they agreed with most of these measures and that during some of them they would take place. to know this week ”, can be read in the statement released today.

The hunger strike was attended by nine members of the movement, including the media chef and catering entrepreneur Ljubomir Stanisic or José Gouveia, president of the National Association of Clubs.

The strike took place in tents set up in front of the Assembly of the Republic in Lisbon, and was visited by several members of parliamentary parties, including PSD, CDS, Bloco de Esquerda or PAN.

Regarding the rest of the measures, “we remain committed to evaluating and announcing them until next December 11, the date on which a new meeting will take place between representatives of the movement and the Government.”

After the meeting, the movement decided to suspend its “fight” in a “spirit of goodwill”, but warns that it will not hesitate to go back on hunger strike “if the measures are not met.”
