Decision that maintained the tie in Famalicão-Sporting, this Saturday, finds defense in the federative body
Luís Godinho’s decision to invalidate what would be Sporting’s third goal in Famalicão is supported by the Refereeing Council (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation, according to O GOG.
The CA defends the match judge regarding the understanding and reading of the play between Luiz Júnior, Famalicão goalkeeper, and Coates, which was analyzed by the VAR, one minute after the 90 regulations.
The match ended in a two-game draw, with Sporting weakened in their leadership, which they will retain after the end of the ninth matchday, but may see their lead shortened against rivals FC Porto, Benfica and Braga.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas spoke to journalists after the match in Famalicão to criticize VAR for the disallowed goal. The leader of the lions considers that it was a “clean goal” and that one of the rivals would “never be annulled”.
