“Sá Carneiro would rebel”

This Friday JSD presents the book 40 years, 40 testimonies on Sá Carneiro, in homage to the founder of the Francisco Sá Carneiro party, who lost his life 40 years ago in the fall of the plane that followed, in a campaign for the presidential elections. . The initiative will be attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the President of the PSD, Rui Rio.

The leader of JSD, Alexandre Poço, the main promoter of the initiative, explained that this was the way to pay homage to the figure of the PSD founder, collecting testimonies from personalities, from PSD, CDS, PPM and PS or independent, who were deprived with Sá Carneiro or identify in some way with his thought.

For Alexandre Poço, Sá Carneiro would be happy that Portugal had consolidated its democracy, without tutelage, and had joined the EEC. However, “there is still a Portugal to do in terms of social justice, the quality of life of the Portuguese.” For this reason, says Alexandre Poço, Sá Carneiro would be “undoubtedly upset with the situation of thousands of Portuguese, translated into difficulties”. Asked if Sá Carneiro could see with good eyes an alliance with Chega, Alexandre Poço solved the problem, however: “It is not in a tribute to Francisco Sá Carneiro that we should go to the land policy of this type of considerations on alliances with A or with B “.
