79 more deaths Thursday with fewer cases since October 22

This Thursday, Portugal registers 3,772 cases and 79 deaths from covid-19. In total, more than 307,000 people have already been infected with the new virus.

A total of 3,772 more infected with COVID-19 were reported compared to Wednesday, according to today’s epidemiological bulletin, bringing the total number of cases to 307,618 since March. Of these, 73,876 correspond to active patients, 1,879 fewer than yesterday. This was the Thursday with the fewest new infections since October 22, when 3,270 infections were registered (in recent days the number of cases has shown a downward trend compared to recent weeks).

The northern region has 2,244 more, which is equivalent to approximately 59% of the total number of new cases, which brings the total number of infected to 161,886. They are followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, with 960 new infections (and a total of 100 960). In the Central region there are 444 more cases (in 30 870), in Alentejo another 54 (in 6422) and in the Algarve another 31 (in 5456). The Azores archipelago registered 35 new cases (in 1096) and Madeira, with four more cases (924).

In Portugal, 79 more people died and there are now 4,724 deaths to mourn. Of the 79 fatalities, 37 were from the north, 25 from Lisbon and the Tagus valley and 17 from the center. Regarding age, 52 deceased persons were over 80 years old (22 men and 30 women), 17 were between 70 and 79 years old (11 men and six women), seven were between 60 and 69 years old (six men and one woman). ) and three men were between 50 and 59 years old.

In the last 24 hours, there are 5,572 additional patients recovered from covid-19: 229,018 people have managed to be cured of the disease. There are fewer than eight patients admitted to Portuguese hospitals (a total of 3,330). The number of people in intensive care has not changed compared to Wednesday: 525 infected people still need more care.
