Azores registers 42 new positive cases and three new chains in São Miguel

On the island of São Miguel, 16 new cases were diagnosed in the context of previously identified transmission chains, of which four correspond to a new transmission chain in Ponta Delgada; four result from a new common chain between Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande; another four are the result of another new chain in Ribeira Grande; as well as there is also a new case to evaluate.

13 new cases in Terceira

On Terceira Island, four new cases were reported in the context of previously identified transmission chains; four new cases to be evaluated; two new cases resulting from a new chain of transmission in Praia da Vitória, and three new cases of residents in Angra do Heroísmo, with a history of trips abroad in the Region and that were positive on the sixth day.

54 recoveries in the last 24 hours

54 recoveries were registered, six in Terceira Island (three in Praia da Vitória and three in Angra do Heroísmo), one in Faial and 47 in São Miguel (seven in Lagoa, 32 in Ponta Delgada, five in Povoação and three in Ribeira Excelente ).

41 active drivetrains

The Region now has 41 active transmission chains, one new in Terceira (Praia da Vitória) and three new ones in São Miguel (Ponta Delgada / Vila Franca, Ponta Delgada / Ribeira Grande and another in Ribeira Grande).

By islands, São Miguel has 29 active transmission chains, Terceira has 10, Pico has one and there is a shared transmission chain between São Miguel / São Jorge.

The Ponta Delgada / Lagoa chain is said to be extinct, bringing the extinct transmission chains in the entire Region to 18 from 18.

There are 355 active positive cases, 223 in São Miguel, 127 in Terceira, two in Pico, one in Faial and two in Flores.

So far, 1,104 cases of infection with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the Covid-19 disease, have been detected, with 18 deaths and 648 recovery cases.

18 Hospitalizations

18 people were admitted to the hospital, seven at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada, 10 at the Hospital de Santo Espírito on Ilha Terceira (two of whom were in intensive care) and one at the Hospital da Horta.
