Darwin Nuñez and Julian Weigl tested negative for covid-19 and could enter Jorge Jesus’ accounts for the reception of the Poles from Lech Poznan next Thursday.

The two players had missed Benfica’s last three games: União Paredes (Portuguese Cup), Glasgow Rangers (Europa League) and Marítimo, this Monday for the League.

Hired by Almería, from the Spanish second division, Darwin has been one of the Reds’ most influential players in these first months of the season: he has five goals and six assists between the League and the Europa League. Julian Weigl has lost space in the center of the red field in 2020/21, but the recovery of the German international means that Jorge Jesús has one more option for a sector of the field where the range of options was very limited since he returned to the competition then the pause for the selections.

Taarabt is now the only player in Benfica’s main team currently positive for covid-19.
