Funchal is already illuminated for Christmas. As is tradition, December 1 marks the beginning of the festive season in the Region and the magic of the season is already being experienced in the Madeiran capital. Part of the lighting was turned on at the end of this Tuesday afternoon, in a work conceived by ‘TC Luz & Eventos’, a specialized company of the Macedos Group, with more than 50 years of experience.

Carlos Macedo, from the Macedos Group, assured, in an interview with DIÁRIO, that his company had prepared a “magical world”, in reference to Christmas lighting, this in a year marked by the covid-19 pandemic.

This year, he explains, lighting is marked by technology, innovation and, mainly, by the interaction that a new concept reserves.

He acknowledges that the “assembly was a race against time”, but as of this Tuesday Funchal is already illuminated for the festive season, which in the coming weeks will attract the attention of Madeiran and tourists, even in a year in which hotel occupancy was lower, due to the limitations of the covid-19 pandemic.

The Government of Madeira plans to invest more than three million euros this year in Christmas, New Year and Carnival lighting, with the contract signed for the period 2020-2022.
