The Câmara de Guimarães will invest 40 thousand euros, equivalent to what was going to be spent on the end of the year party that will not be held, in vouchers to encourage consumption in commercial establishments and restaurants in the municipality. Consumers can benefit from coupons of 15 euros through a mobile application created for this purpose. Likewise, the City Council will guarantee that purchases will be delivered free of charge to users’ homes, which represents an investment of more than 40 thousand euros. In a statement, the municipality said that more than 100 establishments have already been registered.
The measure will be voted on next Thursday at a House meeting.
To benefit from the vouchers, consumers must access the “Electronic Kiosk”, a digital platform that will begin operating in early December and whose application can be downloaded to mobile phones through Google Play (Android) or the Apple Store (iPhone ).
With this solution, developed from scratch by the Municipality of Guimarães in the last five months, consumers will be able to find products in local stores and restaurant menus throughout the county.
After registering on the “Proximcity” platform, the name given to this application, users will have access to “a great digital showcase”, currently with more than a hundred participating stores.
In a statement, the municipality explains that, during the next three months, when making purchases worth 15 euros or more, either in the traditional store, store or restaurant in the municipality of Guimarães that is registered in the “Electronic Kiosk”, the first 15 euros will be converted into a bonus, which in turn, will be discounted in the final purchase, in a measure that aims to support commerce, restaurants and the like.
The vouchers are unique and are granted in order of registration of each user / consumer, when making purchases on the digital platform.
The support of the municipality, highlights the Chamber, corresponds to a total of 40 thousand euros in coupons, equivalent to what would be spent on the New Year’s Eve party in the Historic Center of Guimarães, which will not be possible in 2020 due to the pandemic.
“This digital kiosk, made available by the Municipality and dedicated to Commerce and Restoration in Guimarães, will streamline, modernize, innovate and try to meet the needs and difficulties of this pandemic time, of our commerce, restaurants, cafes, pastry shops and the like. Traders must register on this platform and also Guimarães. From here, a meeting point is created where it will be possible to make secure purchases digitally for anyone who decides to consume in the territory of Guimarães ”, comments Domingos Bragança, mayor, mentioned in the statement.
For the same term, the Chamber will ensure that any item purchased through the Electronic Kiosk is delivered free of charge to the home of each consumer, resident in the municipality.
The agreement is the result of a partnership with the Associação Vimaranense de Hotelaria (AVH) and the Associação do Comércio Tradicional de Guimarães (ACTG).
For this transport service, explains the municipality, the allocation of other financial support was established up to 40 thousand euros, which will be paid through the presentation of reports containing the transport services provided, that is, date, number, invoice amount for the product / service of the commercial establishment, amount of the invoice for the transport service, as well as the digital record of the order that the consumer made in the Electronic Kiosk.
