Algarve on yellow alert and recent images of Tavira ‘under water’

Six districts of mainland Portugal will be on yellow alert on Sunday and part of the Madeira archipelago in orange, due to maritime disturbances, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced today.

In continental territory, districts of Pharaoh, Beja, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria and Coimbra, according to the IPMA, in a statement.

The IMPA notice refers to the period between 12:00 and 21:00 on Sunday, with northwest waves four meters high.

As for the archipelago of Madeira, an orange warning was issued this Sunday for the north coast of the island of Madeira, which foresees the possibility of the formation of waves that can reach 12 meters in height. The island of Porto Santo will also be on orange alert on Sunday.

This notice is effective between 3 pm on Sunday and 9 am on Monday.
