The PCP’s financial situation continues to be negative and the party is discussing an additional one euro increase in the monthly fee, announced today Manuela Pinto Ângelo, of the party’s political commission.

It is necessary “to speak with each partner about the importance of having their quota up to date and increasing their monthly value by at least one euro, regardless of the base of 1% of income,” said the communist leader this Saturday, November 28 at the XXI National Congress in Loures, district of Lisbon.

For Manuela Pinto Ângelo, it is necessary “to have more colleagues to receive fees, to use other means such as bank transfer.”

All this will ensure the most important means of financing the party, which, said the leader, is proud not to depend “on public support or third parties or wants to depend.”

Since 2016, the date of the last congress, 85% of the PCP’s income was the product of “payment of contributions, contributions and donations from supporters and democrats,” he concluded.

The party’s poor financial situation requires, he said, “to promote the growth of income from activity and activism.”

The communists are also preparing, he said, to “reduce costs”, but “those who do not create difficulties for the intervention” of the party, of which he did not give examples.

Without giving figures, Manuela Pinto Ângelo also affirmed that the party has already managed to raise 60% of the funds it proposed for the national fundraising campaign for the centenary of the PCP, which will be held in 2021.
