The National Maritime Authority (AMN) warned yesterday of the worsening weather conditions in the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores due to the agitation of the sea and strong winds, between Saturday and Wednesday.

In a statement, AMN said that the forecast for wind and sea conditions points to an exceptional worsening of weather conditions and maritime disturbances in the Atlantic area between the Azores and Madeira, between midnight on Saturday and 12:00 Wednesday.

The agitation of the sea will be characterized by waves that can reach eight meters and a maximum height of 15 meters, with an average span between 10 and 15 seconds and the wind may register an average intensity greater than 92 km / h and gusts greater than 160 km / h.

Due to these weather conditions, walks along the coast and beaches are not recommended, as well as the practice of recreational activities in areas exposed to the disturbance of the sea.

The National Maritime Authority recommends that sailors, especially the recreational fishing and nautical community, are at sea, so that they return to the nearest port of refuge and that they reinforce the mooring and close surveillance of the moored and anchored boats.
