The Democratic Party candidate in the US presidential election earlier this month increased his lead in the most populous county in the US state of Wisconsin, following a vote recount demanded by President Donald Trump.

According to the official voting results in Milwaukee County, released Friday night, Joe Biden extended the lead over the head of state by 125 votes.

In total, the former vice president of Barack Obama and the virtual winner of the election against Trump, obtained 257 more votes, while his opponent managed to collect 125. The total number of validated votes in Milwaukee County was 459,723.

In absolute terms, Biden has an advantage of around 21,000 votes in Wisconsin, one of the most contested states in the presidential election, where Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016, also by a short margin.

“The tally showed what we already knew: that the elections in Milwaukee County were fair, transparent, correct and safe,” said George Christenson, the attorney for that county in Wisconsin.

“Election officials examined each ballot and the meticulous process of counting each vote was carried out correctly. It was a fair process that gave the injured candidate who requested the recount the opportunity to observe and dispute the bulletins that he considered should not be counted ”, he stressed. Christenson, quoted by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The president’s campaign team, which has been deployed in lawsuits and recount requests in various states across the country, to fuel the narrative of the “fraudulent” pro-Democrat election, promoted by Trump, spent about $ 3 million. (about 2.5 million euros) in the vote count in this and another Wisconsin county.

The result of the recount in Dane County, another heavily populated county in that state, is expected to be released Sunday.

The president of the United States still plans to sue the outcome in Wisconsin as a whole. However, he will have to rush his legal team, as the state has plans to certify the result of the vote next Tuesday.

Defeat in Pennsylvania

Also on Friday there was other bad news for the Republican head of state. A federal court in Philadelphia dismissed a legal challenge by Trump’s team to the results in the state of Pennsylvania, recovered by Biden.

“Free and fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. The accusations of injustice are serious. But saying that an election was unfair does not make it unfair. The charges require specific indictments and then evidence. There is nothing about it here, ”Judge Stephanos Bibas wrote in the court order, cited by the Associated Press.

Trump’s attorneys still intend to appeal to the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court.
According to the projections of the main media in the United States, Joe Biden obtained 306 votes in the Electoral College (270 were to be declared the winner of the elections) against 232 for Donald Trump.

In the popular vote, the Democratic candidate leads with more than 6 million votes over the current president. Trump has yet to concede defeat and vows to continue fighting with all weapons to remain in the White House after January 20.
