Two women who worked in a nursery, in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha, were arrested for child abuse in a nursery by the GNR Center for Research and Support for Specific Victims. At least seven children, aged between five months and five years, were beaten by the employees.
The suspicions, aged 45 and 55, had been under investigation for about 15 days, according to a statement from the Leiria Territorial Command. According to the note, the two detainees had “total control” under the rest of the employees who worked in the nursery and even used “coercion and threats” so that they did not make the situation public.
The women will be present, this Friday, at the Judicial Court of Leira, where the coercion measures deemed appropriate will be applied.
