The Braga district has the cheapest gasoline in the country, according to the October report by ERSE – Entidad Reguladora de Servicios Energéticos.

On average, diesel has a price of € 1,225 / l (-1.8% compared to the previous month) and gasoline € 1,419 (-0.9%).

In the Viana do Castelo district, diesel has an average price of € 1,244 / l (-0.2%) and gasoline € 1,436 / l (+ 0.2%).

At the national level, the average price of simple gasoline remained unchanged in October compared to September and that of simple diesel fell by 0.6%, to 1,239 euros / liter, the lowest value in the last four months, reported today ERSE.

The average price of simple gasoline 95 “remained practically constant compared to September [nos 1,432 euros/litro], demonstrating a stabilization of the market price that has occurred since July ”.

According to the regulator, “the most significant PVP component corresponds to taxes”, which in October represented 65.3% of the total bill in the case of gasoline and 60.1% in the case of diesel.

In gasoline, the international price and the respective freight now represent 17.7% of the invoice, “reflecting the decrease in international prices for light distillates”, while in diesel the international price and freight represented 19.8 % of the final value. , a weight that “has been decreasing since July.”

Regarding the average sale price of Auto LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), in October “it fell for the seventh time this year, although in a less expressive way (-0.4%)”, standing at 0.692 euros / liter.

According to ERSE, in LPG “the price and freight have increased since June, reaching 27.1% in October”, with “taxes and the sales margin representing around three-quarters of the price borne by the consumer, the margin has decreased slightly compared to September ”.

According to the regulator, “hypermarkets maintain the most competitive offers in road fuels followed by operators in the ‘low cost’ segment”.

In simple gasoline, prices in hypermarkets were 2.5% lower than those of the operators of the ‘low cost’ segment and 9% lower than in the gas stations that operate under the banner of an oil company, which represents a saving of 13 cents / liter.

In the case of simple diesel, the hypermarkets presented average prices around 11 cents / liter below the national average RRP and the operators with ‘low cost’ offer an average price of 1,169 euros / liter, which represents an additional 2 , 9% compared to the price of hypermarkets. The flagship oil companies reported prices of 1,264 euros / liter, about 2.5 cents above the national average price.

As for GPL Auto, in October, gas stations with the insignia of an oil company sold, on average, three cents / liter above the national average price and 12 cents / liter above the price charged by hypermarkets.

In an analysis of the geographical variation of prices at the national level, ERSE concludes that, “although little differentiated, the average prices of gasoline 95 and simple diesel reveal some regional differences.”

“In October, the difference in value between the national average price and the average price in the Portuguese districts for simple gasoline 95 and simple diesel is generally higher in the district of Bragança, with a slightly higher price for gasoline 95. in Beja ”, he points out.

Braga and Santarém “are the districts with the cheapest road fuels (gasoline and diesel) in mainland Portugal, and Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria and Viseu also have diesel generally cheaper compared to the average price practiced at the national level,” he says. .

In the case of bottled LPG (butane and propane), “Viana do Castelo and Vila Real recorded the lowest cost for mainland Portugal”, while “Setúbal, Beja and Faro have the highest prices.”

“In October, the greatest differences with the national average prices are observed in the southern districts of Portugal, specifically in Faro, Beja and Setúbal, and in Lisbon, Coimbra and Évora. On the other hand, the most northern districts of the country, such as Viana do Castelo and Vila Real, have the cheapest bottled LPG prices, ”says ERSE.

According to him, “the inland districts closest to Spain, such as Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Bragança and Guarda, as well as Porto and Braga, also have low prices.”
