The Lisbon square ended in positive territory, with the national benchmark index adding 2.73% to 4,571.02 points, the highest value since June 8, having been the one that appreciated the most among the main stock exchanges of Western Europe.

In the rest of the Old Continent, the increases are driven by the announcement of promising new vaccines against covid-19 and by allowing the transition of power in the US to Joe Biden. The pan-European Stoxx 600 Index is trading at late-March highs, mainly supported by stocks linked to oil and travel.

Around here, of the 17 listed companies that make up the PSI-20, only EDP, EDP Renováveis and Jerónimo Martins closed in the red.

The highlight in earnings was for Nos, which closed at 3.20 euros, the highest since September 18, shooting 13.48%. This is the day that there is new news about the sector in the neighboring country. The Spanish press assures that the potential integration between the businesses of Vodafone Spain and MásMóvil (which in Portugal owns Nowo) is progressing steadily. “The information confirmed by Invertia indicates that at this time the teams hired by the two companies are closing the valuation of the operators’ assets and then negotiating a possible joint venture,” says El Español.

BCP advanced 6.03% to 12 cents a share, which corresponds to June’s highs.

Galp also soared, closing at 6.74% to 9.82 euros, a four-month high, in a session of strong oil gains.

The paper mills also stood out positively, the day in which an extraordinary general meeting of Navigator is held to deliver the reserves it has on balance to the shareholders, distributing close to 100 million euros. The shareholders will decide to pay a total of 99,138,919.82 euros, equivalent to 0.1394 euros per share. This is the same amount that the company intended to pay in June, but ended up paying it off due to uncertainty related to the pandemic.

Altri had the best performance in this sector, jumping 8.13% to 4.47 euros, while Navigator was up 4.25% to 2.41 euros and Semapa advanced 5.53% to 8.78 euros.

The retail sector was mixed, with Jerónimo Martins losing 0.53% to 13.94 euros and Sonae adding 4.32% to 65 cents per share.
