Today there are 8 new positive cases to report, all of local transmission, associated with contacts of previously identified positive cases.

The Regional Health Directorate reported, in the daily report sent a moment ago, that “three of the cases of local transmission identified today refer to children, between 7 and 9 years old, who attend educational establishments in the municipality of Funchal, whose contingency plans are active. “

There are also 8 more recovered cases to report. The region now has 523 recovered cases of covid-19.

There are 166 active cases, of which 51 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 115 are cases of local transmission. Regarding the residence of active cases, 31 are non-residents and 135 are RAM residents.

126 situations under study

Likewise, according to the report, “there are 126 new situations that are currently being studied by the health authorities, related to contacts with positive cases or situations reported to the SRS24 line.”

The authorities are carrying out the necessary epidemiological investigations.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 27 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 135 in their own accommodation and three people are hospitalized in the Polyvalent Unit dedicated to covid-19 and 1 patient in the Intensive Care Unit.

To date, remember, there have been two deaths associated with the disease in the Region.
