The Government increased this Saturday from 191 to 213 the provinces of the continent with “very high”, “very high” and “high” risk of contagion of covid-19 for which it provides different restrictive measures depending on the group to which it belongs.

The Executive added two more high-risk levels to the municipalities covered by the special measures to combat covid-19, keeping 47 municipalities at “extremely high” risk, the highest on the scale, 80 at a “very high” level, 86 municipalities in “high”.

The remaining 65 of the 278 counties of the Portuguese continent have a “moderate” risk of having less than 240 cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days.

Fifteen of these “moderate” risk municipalities left the risk list with the renewal of the state of emergency, which takes effect at 00:00 hours on November 24.

António Costa highlighted that the list is dynamic and will be reviewed every 15 days, in line with the review of the state of emergency.

The 47 counties at risk “extremely high“, with more than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days, they are:

On the eve of a public holiday, November 30 and December 7, commercial establishments will be closed from 3:00 p.m. In addition to these measures, these 127 counties are also subject to the measures already in place and which remain for the 86 counties of “high risk”, such as the prohibition of circulating on public roads between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am on weekdays. The closing hours of commercial establishments are also maintained at 10 p.m., and of restaurants and cultural facilities at 10:30 p.m.

There are 65 municipalities at “moderate” risk, with less than 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, which are governed by the measures issued for the entire continental territory.

Thus, in addition to the measures enacted specifically for “extremely high”, “very high” and high risk municipalities, the Government has also enacted measures to be applied throughout the continent.

Thus, the entire continental territory will be prohibited from circulating between municipalities between 11 p.m. on November 27 and 5 a.m. on December 2, and between 11 p.m. on December 4 and 5 a.m. December 9. This prohibition of circulation between municipalities occurs on the weekends that take the ‘bridges’ of the festivities of December 1 and 8.

The Government also decreed tolerance to the term and suspension of teaching activities for the continent on November 30 and December 7 and also requested the dismissal of private sector workers on those same days.

The mandatory wearing of a mask was also enacted in workplaces on the mainland. All measures will be implemented with the renewal of the state of emergency, which occurs at 12:00 hours on Tuesday (November 24) and ends at 11:59 p.m. on December 8. António Costa stressed that the list of municipalities at risk is dynamic and will be reviewed every 15 days, in line with the review of the state of emergency.
