To date, Portugal has 61 more deaths related to covid-19 and 6,489 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 3,762 deaths and 249,498 cases of contagion, of which 82,736 are active, 1,352 more than on Thursday.

The DGS indicates that of the 61 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 33 occurred in the North region, 15 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 12 in the Center region and one in the Algarve.

Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals a new maximum with the record of 3,079 people hospitalized (62 more than on Thursday). There are 481 people in intensive care (23 more).

Health officials have 80,409 contacts under surveillance, up from 312 compared to Thursday, and 5,076 patients were reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, 163,000 people have recovered from the disease.

The number of hospitalized patients reaches a new record: there are already 3,079, a balance of 62 more patients in 24 hours. Those admitted to intensive care units also hit a new high: 481

The North region has the highest number of new cases, with 3,630 reported in the last 24 hours, totaling 128,202 and 1,759 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 1,805 new cases of infection were reported, representing 86,605 cases and 1,378 deaths.

In the Central region there were 799 more cases, representing 23,720 infections and 478 deaths.

In Alentejo, 135 new cases of covid-19 were registered, with a total of 4,960 and 89 deaths.

The Algarve region has today reported more than 90 cases of infection, for a total of 4,549 cases and 41 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 29 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding 713 detected infections and 15 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Madeira registered a new case in the last 24 hours, accounting for 749 infections and two deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 110,116 men and 134,690 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

The bulletin indicates that there are 4,692 confirmed cases of unknown genders that are under investigation, as this data is not automatically released.

Of the total deaths, 1,932 were men and 1,830 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,360,914 deaths derived from more than 56.8 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report prepared by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

The figures for this Monday are the result of a change in the data analysis system. The daily difference in these fields is calculated from the previous day’s data. However, the accumulated data has historically been updated, resulting in +4375 confirmed cases, +13529 recovered cases, and -9154 active cases. This update of the accumulated number of confirmed cases translates into +2101 cases in the northern region, +1745 cases in the LVT region, +286 cases in the Alentejo region, +163 cases in the Algarve region, +52 cases in the Madeira region, + 29 cases in the Center region and -1 case in the Azores region.

To what POSTCARD found up to November 12 (eight days ago), the the total of confirmed cases of Covid-19 amounted to 3803 (DGS today presents 4,549, plus 90), with 41 deaths to mourn (DGS counts 40).

Until Thursday, November 12, the municipalities of Faro [223], Portimão [215], Loulé [186] and Albufeira [149] had the highest number of confirmed active cases [ver quadro].

Unfortunately, DGS and most municipalities in the Algarve no longer regularly publish Covid-19 numbers by county of cases, making it difficult to understand the daily evolution in the region.
