The president of the PSD, Rui Rio, said this Wednesday, in an interview with “TVI24”, that it would be impossible for the PSD to form a government with the PCP, BE and Chega and even said that he would flatly deny that his government was in that of the hands of André Ventura’s party.

“If the elections were today, it would be impossible for the PSD to form a government with the extreme left and the extreme right: PCP, BE and Chega. António Costa said that he would like to become totally dependent on the left, the Government is totally in the hands of the PCP. A government of mine will never be in the hands of Chega. If they ask me to integrate points with which I agree and they coincide with our program, do I say that I do not want Chega’s votes? I think it will be very difficult for us to accept something that Chega proposes to vote in favor of our proposals, ”the PSD leader stressed.

Regarding the PSD Azores agreement with Chega, Rui Rio explained some behind the scenes of this understanding: “André Ventura wanted to issue a statement and asked us if we did not deny this agreement. This statement was not in accordance with what was agreed and was corrected by Chega and therefore we do not deny it. I never met André Ventura. There was no coverage from me, everything that happened was with my knowledge, as a matter of courtesy from PSD Azores. He believes that Alberto João Jardim informed Cavaco Silva about what he was doing ”.
