Azores with 24 new cases and three new transmission chains detected

As part of the screening carried out on those arriving in the Region, five positive cases were detected, four of them on the island of São Miguel and one on the island of Terceira, all from air connections with the Portuguese mainland.

Thus, on the island of São Miguel, a 31-year-old man was diagnosed using the SARS-CoV-2 screening test. Three positive cases were also detected by the analysis carried out from the sixth day, corresponding to a 43-year-old woman, who underwent a negative screening test, and to two men, 39 and 43 years old. , non-residents of the Region, who took the test upon arrival with a negative result. On the island of Terceira, a 33-year-old woman was diagnosed, who presented a negative screening test upon arrival in the Region, but whose laboratory tests carried out from the sixth day gave a positive result.

In the context of the epidemiological investigation related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, seven cases were diagnosed, five of which were women, aged between 19 and 83 years, and two men, 34 and 44 years old. .

As part of the epidemiological investigation regarding a previously reported case, a 31-year-old woman was diagnosed.

In the context of another chain of transmission already reported and centered in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, a positive case was detected, referring to a 24-year-old woman.

Two women, 21 and 28 years old, and a man, 53 years old, were also diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, after the appearance of symptoms, the cases under epidemiological investigation.

Three more transmission chains were detected

Two more new transmission chains were detected, the origin of which is still being investigated, one centered in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, having been diagnosed with two women, one seven months old and the other 39 years old, and two men. , 12 and 42 years old, and another associated with a higher education institution, having been diagnosed with a 38-year-old woman.

Two individuals were also diagnosed, a 67-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, during the epidemiological investigation of a private educational establishment in Ponta Delgada, constituting a new chain of transmission.

The Region now has 11 active transmission chains, six on the island of São Miguel, two on the island of Terceira, two shared between the island of São Miguel and the island of São Jorge, and one on the island of São Jorge.

15 recoveries in the Azores

The Regional Health Authority also adds that there were 15 recoveries, 10 on the island of São Miguel, corresponding to four female individuals, aged between 9 and 48 years, and six male individuals, between 4 and 62 years, and three in the Terceira Island, reporting a female person, 42 years old, and two men, 39 and 63 years old.

On the island of Pico, two women, aged 55 and 62, recovered, bringing the number of recovered cases in the Region to 342.

So far, 629 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease Covid-19, have been detected in the Region, with 342 cases recovered and 194 positive cases currently active, of which 165 in the island of São Miguel. , 17 on Terceira Island, eight on São Jorge Island, one on Pico Island, two on Faial Island and one on Santa María Island.

Regarding hospitalizations, there are 8 in total, 7 at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada and one at the Hospital de Santos Espírito, on Terceira Island.

About 2,006 people are under active surveillance.
