The general director of Health, Graça Freitas, announced this Monday that the accumulated incidence over 14 days is 760 cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, a figure that places Portugal in tenth place in Europe.
During the usual press conference to present the country’s epidemiological data -on a day when Portugal broke the record for deaths from covid-19: 91- Graça Freitas highlighted that epidemic activity continues to be intense, being that, in the last 14 days, 760 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were registered per 100,000 inhabitants.
In the north, the number increases to 1,304 for every 100,000 inhabitants. The age groups most affected are 20 to 29 and 30 to 39.
Four million PCR tests: 15.3% positive
It should be noted that, on November 14, Portugal reached the four million PCR tests, with a million in the last month. As explained by the head of DGS, of the total tests, 15.3% were positive.
The Director General of Health also announced that, after the growth of new cases and “thinking about the future”, this Monday the BI Sinave: a more evolved version of the current national epidemiological surveillance system (SINAVE).
It is a joint effort of the DGS and the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health, which allows “to collect and analyze an increasing volume of data and communicate the information more quickly and with greater quality and detail.”
Graça Freitas clarified that the new system does not add information to the databases, but rather allows its more correct and effective treatment.
