Portugal has a total of 225,672 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 3,996 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Monday, November 16. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 3,472, with an additional 91 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The DGS reveals that there are currently 114,025 cases registered in the North (more than 2,063), 21,053 in the Center (more than 462), 80,809 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more than 1,350), 4,173 in the Algarve (more than 56), 614 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (more than 10), 694 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (more than 16) and 4,304 cases in Alentejo (more than 39).

Currently, there are 3,040 hospitalized patients (111 more), of which 426 are in Intensive Care Units (11 more) and 142,155 cases recovered in Portugal, 3,560 more than those registered yesterday.

According to a note released by the epidemiological report, the values ​​of active, recovered and confirmed cases “result from a change in the data analysis system.” “The daily difference in these fields is calculated in relation to the data of the previous day. However, the accumulated data has historically been updated, resulting in an additional 4,375 confirmed cases, an additional 13,529 recovered cases and an additional 9,154 active cases ”.

“This update of the accumulated number of confirmed cases translates into 2,101 more cases in the northern region, 1,745 more cases in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 286 more cases in the Alentejo region, another 163 cases in the Algarve region , 52 more cases in the Madeira region, 29 more cases in the Central region and one less in the Azores region ”, indicates the note shared with the report.

Regarding deaths, of the total of 3,472 deaths, 1,607 are registered in the North (more than 44), 433 in the Center (more than 11), 1,302 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (more 33), 34 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores and 79 in Alentejo (three more). There are two deaths from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 99,448 men and 121,802 women infected with the new coronavirus, with 4,422 infected people whose gender is unknown. In terms of deaths, 1,775 men and 1,697 women were counted. 95,354 people are under surveillance, 750 more than yesterday. There are still 80,045 active cases, 345 more than yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is that of 40 to 49 years, with 16,145 men and 21,046 women, to which are added 641 people of unknown sex, in a total of 37,832 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded over 80 years, with 1,049 men and 1,295 women, in a total of 2,344 deaths.
