Santa Maria do Olival secondary school, in Tomar, will close in the next two weeks due to the covid-19 pandemic and all classes will have face-to-face classes.

“Given the epidemiological situation of the Escola Secundária Santa Maria do Olival, which determined the seven class prophylactic isolation and given the possibility of transmission in a school environment, the Director General of Health authorized the transition to class arrangements not in person for all classes“, can be read in a note published by the municipality of Tomar, in the district of Santarém.

The Câmara de Tomar also explains that this non-face-to-face class regime will begin on Monday and end on November 29, but will have a “subsequent reassessment.”

Santa Maria do Olival High School also sent a message to parents and guardians indicating the transition to non-face-to-face classes for all classes.

“Students and teachers will continue to work remotely, so the class director will send the appropriate guidelines for compliance with the weekly lesson plan,” can be read in the note to which the Lusa agency had access.

Portugal represents at least 3,381 deaths associated with covid-19 in 217,301 confirmed cases of infection, according to the latest bulletin from the Directorate General of Health (DGS).
