The government of the Azores regulates mandatory tests before boarding

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Governing Council, which explains, in a note, that passengers who wish to travel to the Azores by air, and who come from areas considered by the World Health Organization as areas of community transmission . active or with active transmission chains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, are obliged to present, before sending, proof, in digital or paper format, of a document issued by a laboratory, national or international, of the realization of a diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 with negative result.

These tests must be carried out using RT-PCR methodology, within 72 hours before departure from the final destination to the Azores.

In accordance with the Regional Regulatory Decree, passengers under 12 years of age are not required to carry out tests in advance, as well as exceptional humanitarian situations duly authorized by the Regional Health Authority.

The companies that operate connections to the Azores are obliged to require passengers, before boarding, to be defined by the companies themselves, to present the document that proves that the SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test has been carried out, with a negative result. .

This Regional Regulatory Decree is now for the promulgation by the Representative of the Republic for the Azores, as well as for its evaluation, within the scope of the powers that are legally entrusted to it, after the declaration of the current state of emergency, after its entry. in force the day after its publication in the Diário da República.
