Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa confesses that politically he does not like the political solution found for the formation of the new Regional Government of the Azores, which involves Chega, despite remembering that this is perfectly constitutional. The President recalled his position regarding “non-systematic” parties, which includes Chega, and that he had expressed in the celebrations of April 25, 2018 in the Assembly of the Republic.
“I said that these parties were born from known causes, what they meant and what they brought. It is necessary to prevent its appearance, avoiding the causes of dissatisfaction that justify it, it is necessary to avoid the prohibition in the secretariat, but it is necessary to fight ideas in terms of ideas ”, said Marcelo.
Even so, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stressed that, “constitutionally, I believe that there is nothing to point out to the Representative of the Republic in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (RAA)”, since the solution found is in every way similar to the “experience at the national level”. that resulted from the formation of the first government headed by António Costa.
