The Council of Ministers will meet this Thursday to review the list of municipalities at risk and strengthen measures to combat the pandemic. The municipalities that in the last two weeks have exceeded the average of 240 new cases per 100 thousand inhabitants can enter this list.
There are currently 121 municipalities where the risk of transmission of new coronavirus It is higher, but this figure is expected to increase due to the increase in cases in recent days.
The Government can also decide on specific measures for each risk zone.
The General Directorate of Health (DGS) announced in the daily bulletin this Wednesday that there are 82 more deaths and 4,935 new cases of Covid-19 in Portugal. In total, the country has registered 3,103 deaths and 192,172 infected by the new coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
This Monday Portugal entered a state of emergency until November 23, imposing, among other measures, a night curfew in 121 counties with the most cases of contagion.
This measure that prohibits traffic on public roads between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and, for the next two weekends, starting at 1 p.m., is applied in the 121 counties considered high risk of transmission of Covid-19.
These municipalities, which cover 70% of the resident population, include all the municipalities in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto.
The measure was approved by an extraordinary Council of Ministers held on Saturday night and It provides for exceptions such as commuting to work, returning home, emergency situations, hygienic walking in the vicinity of the house or walking of animals, among others.

WHAT ARE THE EXCEPTIONS TO THE CURRENT MEASURES?
Traveling to grocery stores, supermarkets or pharmacies is one of the exceptions to the ban on driving on public roads in the afternoons and nights of the next two weekends, in the 121 counties with the highest risk of being infected by the new coronavirus.
According to the decree that regulates the application of the state of emergency, published this Sunday night in the Diário da República, “trips to grocery stores and supermarkets and other establishments selling food and hygiene products for people and animals”.
In these establishments, the diploma says: “You can also buy other products that are available there.”
However, the permitted trips, which are detailed in 13 paragraphs of the decree, must be made “preferably unaccompanied and must respect the recommendations and orders determined by health authorities and security forces, that is, those relating to the distances to be respected between people.”
It is also possible to go out to short walks with pets, alone or with relatives.
Who needs to leave home for They may do so for reasons of health or force majeure, provided they are duly justified.
