The Government decreed a curfew between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Monday to Friday, from Monday to November 23, in the 121 municipalities most affected by the pandemic, the Prime Minister announced today .

The executive also determined that, on the weekend, the curfew begins at 1:00 p.m. in the same 121 municipalities. The measures will be reevaluated weekly.

This limitation on freedom of movement is “the most restrictive measure foreseen in the decree,” said the prime minister.

If someone is caught in violation, he will be accompanied by the authorities to the house, the criminal framework is not yet known.

The night time restriction between 11 pm and 5 am is for the entire week. On the weekend, this additional ban is in effect. The measures are only for the 121 counties that are on the risk list, 18 of them in Minho.

18 municipalities of the Minho in partial confinement as of November 4

“As already mentioned, as of Monday, it will be prohibited to circulate on public roads between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am the following day, with the exception of those who have to go to work, leave urgently, to go to the pharmacy, to help a sick relative, ”he said.

“Also for the next two weekends, there will be a limitation on freedom of movement between 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and 5:00 a.m. on Monday “, said.

There are no exceptions. António Costa explains that, to pick up takeout, it has to be before 1:00 p.m., both on Saturday and Sunday. However, home delivery can be done at any time.

António Costa intervened at the end of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, which took place in the Palácio da Ajuda, in Lisbon, from 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, and whose purpose was to regulate the decree of state of emergency issued by the President of the Republic on Friday. -market.

“Many people question the usefulness of this measure. The fundamental reason is that we have a clear notion that social interaction has a very important contribution to the dissemination of contagious situations. And that takes place in the afterwork ”, explained the head of the Government.

Other measures

“On October 14, the use of masks was mandatory, he said the situation was serious. We had 2,000 new cases a day. Less than a month later, we have 6,000 new cases per day. It means that the set of measures and adjustment of the community’s behavior has not been enough for us to control the growth of the pandemic, ”António Costa began justifying, publishing figures of the pandemic.

“The worst day the NHS faced in the first wave, we had a maximum of 1,302 people hospitalized, 271 of whom were in intensive care. Today we have 2,420 hospitalized, 366 in intensive care ”, he stressed.

“This means that we cannot have the slightest doubt that everything must be done to control the pandemic,” he added.

Another measure, already adopted by several institutions and companies, “is the control of temperature at work, educational establishments, commercial, cultural and sports spaces.”

Antigen tests, known as rapid tests, will also be mandatory in institutions related to health, domiciles, air and sea borders, prisons and other places in the future defined by DGS.

Another measure is “the use, by agreement, of health teams from the social, private and cooperative sector with the SNS.”

Costa also announced “the possibility of mobilizing human resources to support health professionals.”
