Paulo Ferreira, commander of the Fafe Fire Department, was urgently hospitalized on the last morning after being diagnosed with pneumonia due to covid-19 plus.

Speaking to O MINHO, the commander, still very weak, explained, in a few words, that he felt a bad feeling last Friday, which led him to contact Salud 24.

“From there they told me to contact the health center to do tests and I ended up being sent to the Guimarães Hospital because they detected that I was lacking oxygen.”

Paulo Ferreira was hospitalized at dawn and received the result of the covid detection test: positive.

He was also diagnosed with pneumonia for which he should be admitted to the Senhora da Oliveira Hospital, in Guimarães, in the next few days.

The commander told O MINHO that the fire department will be tested starting this Saturday afternoon.

In a statement, that humanitarian association announced that, in addition to the commander, there are two more confirmed cases of firefighters infected by the new coronavirus.

“To trace the existence of an outbreak in the barracks as soon as possible, all the elements of the active body will be subjected to detection tests this afternoon,” the statement explains, ensuring that the rescue is not compromised.
