On Sunday, PSP closed bars and restaurants in the Lisbon district, as they were operating in violation of the rules to combat covid-19, and detained one of the owners for injuries to the police.

In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) said that, in the early hours of Sunday, at 1:20 p.m., it closed several food and beverage establishments for operating in violation of the rules implemented by the Government.

According to Cometlis, after the operation, one of the priority was arrested for injuries to the police.

“The police from the São João da Talha police station closed a bar that had very loud music in the neighborhood, with about 50 customers still drinking alcoholic beverages,” the PSP stressed.

According to the police authorities, during the closure of the establishment, the owner “insulted the policemen who were in the place” and was immediately arrested.

The owner of the bar was present at the first judicial interrogation, where it was decreed to impose the term of identity and term of residence.

“The respective news registers were also raised for crime, for not knowing the rules imposed in the context of the pandemic,” Cometlis added.

According to the PSP, the police operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, through the Loures and Odivelas Police Division, in order to ensure compliance with the rules defined to contain the pandemic, especially in terms of hours. closing of commercial establishments and consumption of alcoholic beverages and social gatherings on public roads.

The Government announced this Saturday that 121 municipalities, including Loures, are covered, since Wednesday, by the civic duty of home collection, new hours in establishments and compulsory telework, except for “motivated opposition” by the worker, due to the covid- 19. .

The restaurants in these 121 mainland counties – a list that will be reviewed every 15 days – cannot have tables with more than six people and their closing hours begin at 10:30 p.m.

Commercial establishments generally must close at 10:00 p.m. However, according to the Government, the mayor may set a closing time below the established maximum limit, after a favorable opinion from the local health authority and the security forces.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 1.2 million deaths in more than 47.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Portugal 2,694 people died out of 156,940 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate General of Health.
