Several restaurants in Porto appeal to the population to frequent other restaurants, raising awareness of the importance of ensuring the survival of the sector, once again under “attack”.

“We believe that we are a refuge and not a threatening danger. So, if you don’t come to Nogueira’s, go to Flow, go to Terminal 4450, go to Brasaria, go to Guilty, see everyone who deserves your support in this painful winter ”, reads a post on the restaurant’s page in Facebook social network that highlights that “the list of restaurants to place is endless.”

Noting that, under normal circumstances, they would not make such a request, the authors of the publication emphasize that “the important thing is to leave”, since everyone needs the contribution of clients to survive.

In the text published early in the afternoon and entitled “Go to Flow”, that Porto restaurant points out that, despite the fact that summer has brought a “breath of fresh air”, the evolution of the pandemic, by way of “deja vu”, He leaves the establishments “without air” again and this time the setting is “darker”.

“The defenses are still being rebuilt and we are already under attack again,” the publication reads, where it is noted that the measures and wishes of those responsible have always been respected.

The managers of the restaurant located in the center of Porto point out that, like many entrepreneurs, they did everything possible to keep their jobs during the months of “Pure anguish and difficulty”, even without knowing what the future holds.

Speaking to Lusa, one of the owners of Nogueira, Henrique Nogueira, says that the business is being greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, having reduced, for example, the number of meals served from 300 to 30 in the days pre-pandemics were full.

“We are just talking about surviving,” he said.

The entrepreneur from the restaurant sector explained that the idea was launched by another restaurant in Porto, Lado B, even before the Burger King campaign in the United Kingdom was known this Monday, where the chain calls for the consumption of rival McDonald’s products.

In a publication on its page of the social network Facebook, entitled “Let’s all help restaurants”, Side B highlights that difficult times are expected, if the first wave forced to close the doors, the second wave “more controlled for now”, ask for some anticipation and lots of imagination.

If before we warned the neighbors, or because we were full or closed for rest, now we understand that the restoration should not go by itself, individually. To save thousands and thousands of jobs, all restaurants need your support ”, reads the text published on November 1 and where some 30 alternatives to Plan B are suggested.

Although he still has no idea of the number of restaurants that joined this initiative, Henrique Nogueira adds that there are already other establishments that come into contact, showing willingness to join the campaign.

On Friday, the Portuguese Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar (AHRESP) had already called on the Government not to take measures that restrict the activity of companies, highlighting that, if this happens, a “more robust” support will be needed , that is, access to a simplified dismissal disconnected from interruptions in billing.

If there is no such answer, AHRESP warns that there will be a situation, “Massive closure of unprecedented companies.”

On the same day, at the end of the Social Conciliation meeting, the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, said that the Government is considering new measures to support employment and companies in the face of the worsening of the covid-19 pandemic.
