Castelo Branco and Idanha-a-Nova concentrate the vast majority of active cases in the ULSCB area. La Misericordia de Belmonte has about 60 percent of the elderly infected.

There are 11 more active cases of Covid-19 infection from Saturday to Sunday in various provinces of the Castelo Branco district, according to the most recent data provided by the Local Health Unit in Castelo Branco.

In total in the area covered by ULSCB there are now 313 patients, with the municipality of Castelo Branco concentrating 181 infected people, nine more than on Saturday.

In Idanha-a-Nova, which had exceeded one hundred active infections in part due to the outbreak at the Misericórdia home, there is evidence of a patient cured in the last 24 hours, with 100 cases of active infection.

There is still another patient to be registered in Vila Velha de Ródão (in a total of five active) and another in Vila de Rei (with two cases of active infection at this time).

Penamacor with eight active cases, Sertã with eight, Proença-a-Nova with nine and Oleiros without active cases continue with the same numbers as on Saturday, according to the Reconquest of the ULSCB.

The municipality of Penamacor is the only municipality in the Castelo Branco district with a very high risk of contagion, according to the accounts prepared by the weekly Expresso, which crossed the new cases for every 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.

These calculations were made by the newspaper based on data from the General Directorate of Health and population estimates from the National Institute of Statistics, which still do not reflect the situation in Idanha-a-Nova.

In Belmonte, the Ombudsman’s Office of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia confirmed on Saturday that it has 54 users and nine infected employees, which corresponds to almost 60 percent of the elderly taken in by the institution.

“This is a very delicate situation, but not tragic, until now. This is because, as a result of the competence and altruism of our human resources, we have done everything necessary to prevent the outbreak from being the least aggressive possible for our elderly population, ”the institution wrote on social networks.

This Sunday, in the same way, the provider José Figueiredo made an appeal “to all those who are willing to carry out social support work, inserted in Social Security programs, or simply voluntarily, contact us.”

This request aims to “guarantee the capacity to respond and support our elders, in order to avoid interruptions in our services.”
