A man dies after a car accident against a tree in Valença

One man died and another was seriously injured in a traffic accident followed by a collision with a tree on the EN 201 in Cerdal, Valença.

The 56-year-old driver of the vehicle is seriously injured. The mortal victim is the companion, 54 years old. Both are neighbors of Cerdal. The accident occurred around 8:49 p.m., on EN201.

According to Valença Fire Commander Miguel Lourenço, the 54-year-old was still transported to the Braga hospital by VMER do Alto Minho, but ended up succumbing to his injuries on the way. The seriously injured man was taken to the Viana do Castelo hospital.

The circumstances in which the car was discovered, apparently without the involvement of other vehicles, are unknown.

Source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Viana do Castelo, said that the alert for the accident was given at 8:49 p.m. and 201 was cut off in both directions until 10:35 p.m.

Twelve operations with five vehicles from the Valença Fire Department were mobilized to the site, the local Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance and two GNR patrols.
