Searches were suspended moments ago and should resume at dawn tomorrow.
The Port Authority of Funchal, in conjunction with the Regional Civil Protection Service, began this Thursday afternoon searches by land and sea of a German tourist near the São Jorge dock in Santana.
The 24-year-old man fell into the sea without having managed to return to land on his own, and was missing.
Various media intervened in this action, namely, a SANAS-Madeira lifeboat and one from the Funchal Life Saving Station, with elements from the Shipwreck Assistance Institute, the Santana Volunteer Firefighters and two drones, one of the blue helmets. de Santana and another from the Regional Command of Relief Operations of the Regional Civil Protection Service.
The drones conducted several searches on the site, but sadly without success.
Considering the visibility and weather conditions felt at the site, the vessels that participated in the searches were unable to get close to shore.
The Local Command of the Maritime Police of Funchal is in place to participate in the searches and took charge of the event.
