Today a teacher from the Escola Bartolomeu Perestrelo was prevented from entering the Santa Luzia Clinic, in Funchal, where she had scheduled an appointment. Contacted by JM, the clinic’s administration acknowledged that there was “some exaggeration” and guaranteed that the patient has already been contacted and that the situation is being resolved.

The newspaper knows that, when completing the usual survey upon arrival at the clinic, the teacher could not enter, since she works at the school where a student tested positive for covid-19.

Fernando Jasmins, president of the Santa Luzia Clinic board of directors confirmed the situation, which he attributed to a misunderstanding. “There was, in fact, some exaggeration,” he admitted. “During the service, an employee thought that it was a person who had had contact with a positive case and that it should be isolated. There was a doubt here, in which case, we preferred to play it safe.”

“We have already contacted him, we are sorry, and we are trying to resolve the situation as soon as possible,” he said.
