Portugal already has 17 more deaths and 1,949 cases of contagion by the new coronavirus, today exceeding 100,000 cases since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) reported today. The Coimbra Region, a territorial unit that includes 19 municipalities, already has 1,892 confirmed cases of infection, and the municipality of Coimbra is approaching 900.

The municipality of Coimbra already registers 896 contagion records, standing out from the rest also due to the population density of the district capital. In the table, the municipality of Cantanhede with 205, Countixa, with 187, Figueira da Foz with 105 and, below the cent, Penacova with 75 registered cases, follow with a long distance. All other counties have recorded a number of infections below 50 since the start of the pandemic. Pampilhosa da Serra records only three cases of infection, according to the DGS document.

According to the latest bulletin published today, since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 101,860 confirmed cases and 2,198 deaths.

Health officials have 55,425 people under surveillance, 574 more than on Sunday. The DGS also reveals that there are 39,696 active cases, 966 more than on Sunday.

According to the report of the 17 deaths registered, 12 occurred in the North region and three in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, and two in the Center.

Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals that in the last 24 hours there are 88 more hospitalized people, totaling 1,174, of which 165 are in intensive care (10 more than on Sunday).

In the last 24 hours, 966 patients were recovered, a total of 59,966 since the start of the pandemic.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, another 749 new cases of infection were reported, with 48,161 cases and 884 deaths in the region.

Today, the northern region has more than 987 new cases of covid-19, totaling 40,436 cases and 971 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In the Central region there were 133 more cases, representing 8,347 infections and 279 deaths.

In Alentejo, 35 new cases of covid-19 were registered, for a total of 2,026, with a total of 27 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The Algarve region today reported 32 more new cases of infection, with a total of 2,231 cases and 22 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, seven new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding up to 325 detected infections and 15 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Madeira registered six new cases in the last 24 hours, representing 334 infections, with no deaths to date.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

Today’s bulletin announces the number of cases by municipality, Lisbon being the one that continues to have the highest number of infections (8,241), followed by Sintra (6,763), Loures (3,891) and Amadora (3,470).

The municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia registers 2,888 infections by SARS-CoV-2, Porto 2,884, Odivelas 2,676, Cascais 2,695, Oeiras 2,131, Vila Franca de Xira 2,007, Matosinhos 1,929, Braga 1,819, Guimarães 1,772, Almada 1,660, Seixal 1,603, Gondomar 1,523, Maia 1,418, Paço de Ferreira 1,303, Valongo 1,160 and Vila Nova de Famalicão 1021 specify the report on the epidemiological situation of covid-19 in Portugal.
