Starting Monday, RTP Memória will once again exhibit the “Study at home”, the old telescope, which returns to the screens after, in the last quarter of the school year, having taught thousands of students confined at home by the pandemic of covid-19.
An open signal transmission, through Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) that aims to be a “complement to the school” and “a support for the students who are at home”.
For Minister Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, “this new” Study at home “now has a new breath, with a team of teachers entirely dedicated to the production of what is probably the largest repertoire of school content of Portuguese origin, in audiovisuals and open to the whole community “.
In addition to the new subjects, we highlight the 40 teachers – and four sign language interpreters – who will teach “full-time” classes. In the first season, due to the emergency of quickly organizing the antenna, they gave it “a little foot”. And the first and second year of Basic will be separated (they were together), so that the youngest ones become autonomous to read and write.
The daily content has a limited time, in blocks of 30 minutes, for a total of 75 per week, which will occupy the RTP Memória grid from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. The morning blocks are dedicated to the 1st and 2nd cycle and the afternoon blocks to the 3rd.
There is also a new block of “Guidance of Autonomous Work”, to help students develop forms of self-regulation and deepening of learning, and the subjects of Citizenship and Development and Technological Education.
The Baccalaureate will have the same educational team and the same number of weekly blocks as the Basic. However, this content will only start to be available next month.
For five weeks, RTP Memória dedicated the broadcast to the recovery of learning and replaced some previous pedagogical-thematic blocks. Starting tomorrow, the focus is also on the audience: in the first season, the station broke records: almost 90 thousand viewers at the premiere.
What are the new disciplines?
Telescope students will have access to three new subjects: Citizenship and Development, Technological Education, and Self-Employment Guidance, created to stimulate the autonomy of students, better organizing their time and subjects. Secondary content is only in the app and on RTP Play.
