The Health Administration Institute, IP-RAM today counts 7 new positive cases for covid-19 in Madeira, beginning to count 320 cases since the first notification in the Region on March 17, yesterday seven months ago.

The updated information, already around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, accounts for 1,780 notifications of suspected cases of Covid-19 to date, of which 1,460 have not been confirmed. In other words, 18% of the suspected cases were confirmed and the vast majority came from outside Madeira.

“Today there are 7 new positive cases to report, so RAM now counts 320 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the regional territory,” says IASáude. “There are 4 imported cases (2 from the United Kingdom, 1 from Venezuela and 1 from the South of Portugal) and 3 cases of local transmission,” he reveals. And he explains: “The 3 cases of local transmission correspond to close contacts to a recently diagnosed imported case, which were tested. Another 8 contacts of this imported case are under study.”

School on alert, tests to 31 contacts and class in isolation

“One of the positive cases confirmed today was in a school context,” announces the regional health authority. “The young man in question attended school on October 14 and 15, after having had close contact with a positive case of covid-19. There were 31 contacts of the young man in the school context, 12 of which were close contacts ”.

Without mentioning which school it is from, IASaúde says that “the school management has been alerted and the contacts are being informed and tested during the day. The determination of the health authority to contain all the identified contacts is noted, which it implies restricting classes to one class. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing and the health authority may determine new measures, depending on the risk assessment. “

On the other hand, “there are 3 new recovered cases to report. The region now accounts for 219 recovered cases of COVID-19,” he said, which means that “there are 101 active cases, of which 92 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 9 are cases of local transmission “.

Regarding the isolation of positive cases, 56 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit and 45 in their own accommodation ”, he also points out.

The health authority says that “to date, 20,514 people are being accompanied by the health authorities of the different provinces of the region, using the MadeiraSafe application, of these 9,359 people are under active surveillance,” he says.

Suspicious situations are triggered with the case at school

In total, “there are 41 situations that are currently being studied by health authorities.
