André “Pirata” and his accomplice arrived at the Vieira do Minho pitch around 10 in the morning. They are suspected of various crimes, such as theft, possession of prohibited weapons, and dangerous driving.
André Filipe Pires de Carvalho e Oliveira, 29, had been on the run since the early hours of September 24, when he abandoned his girlfriend shot by the PSP outside the São João da Madeira hospital, after a persecution. Inês Carvalho, 23, died.
However, “Pirata”, as he is known, defied the police authorities, by posting on social networks, on Wednesday, a video filmed in a hotel room in Greater Porto, where he celebrated with two bottles of champagne to have achieved escaping from the siege of the security forces and seeking to take advantage of the media to be the most wanted in the country. He was arrested on Friday in Braga.
“Pirata” was escorted this Saturday morning, from the GNR Post in Amares, to the Vieira do Minho Court, which this weekend has a trip to the Braga District.
The accomplice is Fernando de Jesus Serrão Gonçalves, 23, who also resides in the São João da Madeira area. Three robberies are suspected, two in the center of the town of Póvoa de Lanhoso and another in the Covelas parish, in the same municipality, close to Amares and Braga.
On Friday, Fernando Gonçalves was immediately detained by GNR, and André “Pirata” fled to some fields in Adaúfe, the largest parish in Braga, which made his arrest much more difficult, which ended up happening close to 12:30, next to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré.
