The two individuals are being held at the Guarda facilities and will be present at the Braga Judicial Court.

Also in a statement, the PSP reports that, as soon as it learned that the suspect was fleeing from the authorities in the vicinity of the area under its responsibility, it immediately installed a police fence to prevent the escape.

“Simultaneously, surveillance operations were carried out in the main public transport interfaces of the city of Braga,” adds the PSP.

As reported by the MINHO, André Pirata, registered as a fugitive in Braga, was detained at around 12:30 p.m. by the GNR next to a chapel, where he was hiding, near the place where the car in which he was had gone.

André Pirata is the man who on September 24 abandoned his girlfriend outside the Hospital S. João da Madeira, in the Aveiro district, after being shot, allegedly by the PSP.

The 23-year-old woman died.

Today’s GNR chase occurred after a car theft occurred in Póvoa de Lanhoso.

The GNR will have given the order to stop the vehicle in which the two suspects were still, but the order was not accepted.

The suspects fled and were pursued by the GNR, but ended up straying against a wall in Adaúfe, Braga, where one of them was detained.

There is a record of damage to a GNR vehicle, allegedly caused by the suspect’s vehicle.

Military personnel were hired from the Territorial Detachments of Póvoa de Lanhoso and Braga, the Intervention Detachment and the Braga Traffic Detachment.
